The Product
VIROC is a cement bonded particle board composed of wood
particles and Portland cement. It is light gray in color and is flat
and smooth on both surfaces. VIROC sizes are 4'-0" x 8'-0" and 4'-0"
x 10'-0". VIROC combines the strength and fexibility of wood with
the durability and resistant qualities of cement.
VIROC is manufactured in thickness from 6mm to 40mm (1/4" to 1 5/8").
Square edge boards are standard although other edge details are available
(See pages 5 & 6). During its manufacturing process VIROC's wood content
is mineralized with non-toxic chemical agents. These treated wood
elements combine with the Portland cement matrix to add strength and
felxibility, giving the panel significant structural characteristics
plus those qualities contributed by the Portland cement: fire resistance,
moisture resistance and resistance to rot and decay. VIROC's structural
integrity makes it impact resistant and easy to handle. As a result
of its mass, VIROC offers excellent sound attenuation.

The uniting of wood fiber and Portland cement produces a building
panel which is non-toxic, does not contain hazardous volatiles and
is silica, asbestos and formaldehyde free. VIROC does not present
health hazards and is environmentally safe. VIROC
is noncombustible (AST E-136) and has superior structural integrity.
It will not delaminate in water and is dimensionally stable. VIROC
may be sawn, planed, snaded, drilled, routed, nailed and screwed.
VIROC is available either sanded or unsanded.
VIROC's outstanding features make it suitable for both exterior and
interior wall construction, for floors, ceiling or as a general purpose
building panel. The product is distributed in the United States exclusively
by Allied Building Products Corp. of East Rutherford, New Jersey and
stocked by Allied branches throughout the United States.
